Groningen Cycling Holidays is a label of the well-known Fietsvakantiewinkel, for over 35 years your travel agency for individual cycling holidays and travel bookshop / web shop for all your cycling maps, cycling guides, bike bags and much more. A love for cycling and an enormous enthusiasm for cycling trips are deeply rooted in the genes of our organisation.

Groningen Cycling Holidays organises inn-to-inn cycling holidays, relaxed trips and challenging tours, where you can fully enjoy the natural beauty of each region and the fun and most interesting sights along the way. These are also carefree holidays because our staff arranges everything for you. Our cycling routes have been carefully mapped out to follow quiet back roads or, where possible, cycle paths. Hotels have already been booked for you and luggage transport is provided to your next accommodation, while you sit comfortably on the saddle.

The Groningen Cycling Holidays team 

At our office in Elst, four expert staff members work to organise our cycling tours. They ensure complete information and quick processing of your booking. The Pieterburen office takes care of logistics on site. 

About us: 

We started small in 1983 with a travel bookshop and travel agency, Fietsvakantiewinkel, and currently organise inn-to-inn cycling holidays with luggage transport in the Netherlands and Europe under the names Fietsrelax and Dutch Biketours. Our company is characterised by flexibility, efficiency and customer focus. This is reflected in quick, direct answers to all your questions and quick confirmation of your reservation. Our aim is to respond to questions and reservation requests within 24 hours. 

Our prices are clear and transparent. The price stated is the price you pay. We do not charge booking, reservation, administration or other additional fees. Our routes follow the most beautiful sign-posted cycle paths in Groningen and you spend the night at excellent hotels and B&Bs. Many of our routes are cycling circuits, so you don't have to take the train or bus back at the end of your trip. 

Frank Houtstra - Director 

The cycling holiday bug has been with me ever since my first tour of the Ijsselmeer with a good friend at the age of 14, riding from Groningen on my newspaper delivery bicycle. And what could be better than turning your hobby into your job? I started at the Bicycle Holiday Shop and next became product manager for bicycle trips at SNP. Later I returned to the Bicycle Holiday Shop as director, creating beautiful travel products such as Fietsrelax, Dutch Biketours and the web shop. Now I have the chance to promote my own province of Groningen as a cycling destination from the Waddenhoes in Pieterburen. This is still my dream job and with a fantastic and inspired team around me, I look forward to the future with great confidence! 

Lieke van Geelen 

After completing my degree in tourism, I immediately ended up as a sales assistant at the Bicycle Holiday Shop in 2010. Thanks to my full-time position and the small team, I now know the ins and outs of all activities within our company. The small scale, enormous variety of activities and contact with both customers and other organisations mean that I continue to enjoy work every day. I would say it couldn't be better. Since January 2013 I have worked for Dutch Biketours (Partner of the Bicycle Holiday Shop).
When I am not working, travelling is my definition of fun. I enjoy camping in beautiful areas of the Netherlands. Or taking a voyage of discovery to other countries. But the Netherlands is and will always be a wonderful holiday destination. For me, travelling has always been synonymous with relaxation and discovery. Currently I no longer work fulltime because I have two lovely children at home. 

Elleke Haarman 

Travelling is my great passion and also the reason I started studying tourism. After working for a number of large travel organisations, I started at small welcoming Dutch Bike Tours in 2015. In 2020 Groningen Cycling Holidays was added. I myself love active holidays, so this job suits me perfectly. I most enjoy the variety of tasks and contact with customers from different countries. And of course it is rewarding to provide people with a carefree holiday to discover how nice it is to see the Netherlands by bicycle. 

Tine Hofmans 

After completing my degree in tourism, I went to work abroad for 6 months. Following that wonderful trip, it was time to return to the Netherlands. Then Dutch Biketours, where I had already interned in 2012, came my way.  I immediately thought, I cannot pass up this opportunity. What I enjoy most is working with different nationalities and discovering which trip suits each traveller best. When I'm on vacation myself, in addition to relaxing I love to discover a new thing or two. In 2020 Groningen Cycling Holidays came on the scene. Our director wanted to travel in his own native province. That sounded like fun, so we went for it!
